Hello!
My name’s Martina, I am a fifteen-year-old girl born and grown up in a small city 20 km north of Milan, Italy. I can't believe I'm finally writing this letter! This is the first step that transforms a big dream into reality. These few words will finally allow me to get in touch with wonderful people like you that, welcoming me into the family for a year (don’t worry, I'm not so terrible!), will help me realize my desire: hugely improving my English and becoming a perfect American girl. There are four of us in my family, me, my parents, and my little brother. Plus my dog Pongo. I get on quite well with my brother, but he’s too young and we don’t have common interests; for this reason, I'd love to find a family with one or more children, ideally, my age.
I'm a very active person and in my free time, I can't stay without doing anything. I like to hang out with my friends or with my family members. I love doing physical activities: my biggest passion is ski and I weekly go to our mountain family cabin. I feel free on the slopes. One of my dreams has always been being a cheerleader, so I hope I'll take part of my American school's cheerleader’s team.
As a real Italian, I love cooking: I usually cook pasta with different sauces or cakes, of which I am super greedy. I can’t wait to cook Italian dishes for you, lasagne bolognese, pizza margerita, spaghetti carbonare are my specialities, in this way I’ll be able to take a piece of my home, of my Italy, in your house.
Last but not least, I love travelling all over the world and fortunately, I had the opportunity to visit may countries in my short life. When I was 7, I lived two months in San Francisco, were my father relocated for work.
I'm very determined, self-confident and ambitious, and so I hardly give up. I've no fear or doubt about this life-changing experience. Therefore I'm really glad that my parents understand how important this opportunity is to me. I’m outgoing and cheerful but also a very sensitive girl; I know how to listen, I like helping other people and give advice to them. I talk a lot and I am the kind of person who gets along well with others due to being open and considerate of people and their beliefs. I like comparing myself with others.
I have a deep interest in the culture, history, and language of the countries I visite, I am excited to continue to explore and experience the USA.
I know that next year I’ll radically change my way of living, and the best thing about it is that I don’t have any fear of unknown, because I’m really curious to discover new things and to face the world around me.
I hope to become soon part of your family and you’ll be proud of me as your "daughter", as I would like that this experience won’t be just great for me, but also for you.
See you soon,
Martina
